The Liebster Award

Thank you to Irena at Books and Hot Tea for nominating me for the Liebster Award! It’s been a little while since I’ve done a tag/award, so I’m looking forward to answering Irena’s questions. But first, the rules.

The rules:

  • Thank the person who nominated you and link their blog.
  • Answer the 11 questions the person asked you.
  • Nominate 11 people (comment on their blog to let them know).
  • Ask the people you have nominated 11 questions.

Q & A:

1. What is your favourite period in history (the one you find most interesting)?

History is definitely a weak point in my general knowledge (which is something I’m hoping to change once I have a bit more time), so I’m not sure I really know enough about any one time period to answer this question well. I’m definitely most interested in recent history (1900s) and I’m interested in topics involving any kind of political change or revolution. Side note: if you know of any YouTube channels or resources that can help me learn about this kind of thing, please let me know!

2. If you could be a fictional character for a day, who would you be and why?

This is a really tough question, because all my favourite fictional characters face far more everyday than I ever could. But I would love to be as bold and adventurous as Lila Bard from A Darker Shade of Magic, or be the mother of dragons like Daenerys Targaryen.

3. What is your favourite TV show at the moment?

It probably has to be Game of Thrones. I’ve also been really impressed by The Handmaid’s Tale, which I finished watching last week.

4. What is the best book you’ve read so far in 2017? (Or at least one of the best, I know it can be hard to choose.)

Without a doubt, it’s V. E. Schwab’s A Conjuring of Light. This book quite simply blew my mind. It was the perfect conclusion to an amazing fantasy trilogy.

5. Do you have a favourite toy, from childhood or now?

If games count, then my favourite toy right now is definitely either my board games or video games collection. As a kid, I used to love racing my dolls’ cars against each other in an attempt to recreate my favourite video game (Crash Team Racing, in case you’re interested).

6. Who are some of your favourite villains?

The twins and Holland from A Darker Shade of Magic, AIDEN from Illuminae, Cersei from Game of Thrones/ A Song of Ice and Fire, Moriarty from Sherlock and Hannibal Lecter from Hannibal (TV show and books).

7. Which superpower would you choose to have, if you could?

I would love to be able to fly (for escapism reasons), or to stop or reverse time (for practical reasons).

8. What is your favourite snack?

I’m not much of a snacker, but probably carrot cake. Or chocolate with hazelnut.

9. If you had to choose, would you rather become a vampire or a werewolf?

Vampire. I’ve read too many The Vampire Diaries books not to realise that it sounds way more fun than being a werewolf.

10. Pirates or ninjas?

Pirates. I love books involving swashbuckling pirate adventures.

11. Share a quote you really like!

“At some point in life, the worlds beauty becomes enough.”

-Toni Morrison
